So, formerly empty “big box” stores are now open with
“Halloween Costumes” for sale. Golly, time moves on. As an
aside, I've been told on a number of occasions that I don't
need to buy any wrinkly or scary masks to wear anymore.
Ouch!

First. Vote.
One way for you to engage is to vote your preferences. You
should have received an email containing your ballot to vote
for your 2011 Financial Planning Association Board. Please
complete and submit your ballot selection to Helen Preti,
our Executive Director. If you have not received a ballot or

Second; Symposium.
Your Board and especially your Symposium Chair, Gayle Blachura, CFP® and
President Elect, Jake Jacklich, CFP®, have assembled a quality cast for our 13thh Annual Symposium
at the Norfolk Airport Hilton. Currently 72 members of our chapter have registered to attend. Please
recall there are two dates to keep in mind with this extravaganza:
Thursday, October 21st at the Norfolk Airport Hilton from 5:00 to 6:00 is our “Meet the Speaker” event
with heavy hors d'oeuvres. It is an excellent opportunity for you to rub
elbows with some of this year's symposium presenters.
Friday, October 22nd at the Norfolk Airport Hilton is our
13thh Annual Symposium. Check in opens at 7:30 a.m. As many
of you know, it is a day of professional quality and value.
Realizing your time is very valuable, we have packed the
schedule, so it will be imperative that we start and finish
on time for each of the events.
As you can imagine, event administrative work load makes
volunteers essential. If you'd like to engage and offer a

I gotta tell ya, if you happened to miss either of our two
added September events, you lost out on an opportunity to
engage professionally in a big way:
- September 14th during our “Lunch and Learn” event, Earl
Johnson of the Social Security Administration, gave an
excellent presentation on Social Security changes, which
counted for 1 hour of CFP® CE.
- September 21st during our “Meet and Greet”, a panel
composed of Linda Wheeler, Certified Senior Advisor; Andrew
Hook, Esq. CFP®, Mary Levy, Director of the Center for
Aging, Christine Farfel, Certified Geriatric Care Manager
and Donna Briggs, SPHR composed the “Senior Issues Panel”,
which counted for 2 hours of CFP® CE and VA Insurance CE.
